It was a busy month in our G14 cluster, with UM offices in both Russia and Amsterdam securing new account wins. UM Russia won the media accounts for computer company Lenovo Russia and oral care brand Stomatofit while UM Amsterdam signed lingerie retailer Hunkemöller.
UM Russia was awarded the TV planning and buying business for Lenovo Russia, one of the world’s top personal computer companies. This recent win is a result of fostering a two-year relationship with Lenovo which began through a co-promotional campaign for Microsoft in 2012. Billings are estimated at $7M U.S.
Lenovo is the world’s fastest growing manufacturer of personal computers. In 2013 Lenovo was the world’s largest personal computer vendor by unit sales. It markets the ThinkPad line of notebook computers and the ThinkCentre line of desktops.
The Russian office also picked up media duties for oral care brand Stomatofit. Currently a summer assignment, UM has been charged with implementing a television and video on demand media plan to run through July and August.
Adding to the G14’s success in Russia, UM Amsterdam has signed Dutch swimwear and lingerie company Hunkemöller.
The Netherlands’ answer to Victoria’s Secret, Hunkemöller, is looking to UM to expand their brand presence into other global markets, including Germany, Belgium and Demark. The agency is currently spearheading their “Fashion Fever”, “Bra Swim Party” campaigns.
Laura Fracture, Head of Marketing & Communications at the Dutch chain store, expressed her high expectations for the partnership: “Together with UM, we expect to build the global brand Hunkemöller further. We have grown into an omni-channel business with a major focus on international expansion. The expertise and global approach of UM will help to achieve our ambitious strategy.”
“We are extremely proud that we are able to work for [the brand] in the Netherlands and internationally,” added Rik Ruts, Managing Director, UM Netherlands. “We want to contribute to the rapid growth of the retail and fashion brand through our strategies and plans based on real insights into the target audience, brand, and category and connect with relevant ideas and media solutions.”
Hunkemöller was founded in Amsterdam in 1886 and is currently represented in 16 countries. Already the market leader in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, they work continuously to innovate and deliver e-commerce and franchising services and opportunities.
